Placement Assessments

Q: Where do I find the placement assessment?
A: To find and use placement assessments, you must first create a classroom. To do so, navigate to the classroom section on the left hand menu of the Curriculum Access portal. From here, create a classroom and add students. Once this step is completed, click on the 'Placement Assessment' tab above your student list to open Placement Assessments. From here you can start a digital Placement Assessment by clicking on a student's name or print a PDF version of the Placement Assessment.

Q: How do I enter scores for a printable assessment?
A: To enter scores for a printable assessment, click on the student name and click 'enter print scores' at the bottom of the pop up window.

Q: How do I determine which level to use?
A: Start by using the Placement Assessments, available in both digital and printable formats. The student’s score will provide guidance on which curriculum level(s) may be an appropriate starting point.

Use the Language Placement Assessment for all subject areas except Math and Functional Math. For those two subjects, use the Math Placement Assessment.

If your student’s results fall between levels or you find yourself moving between assessments, that’s okay! Placement Assessments are intended to provide a starting point, not a fixed placement. You can adjust the level based on the progress and performance you see during instruction.

As the student’s teacher, your knowledge of their individual strengths and needs should always be considered alongside their Placement Assessment results.
